Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Oh Baby! Fitness offers a wide range of exercise classes for new and expectant moms. The company was founded by CEO and co-owner Clare Schexnyder, who previously worked as a producer at CNN for almost 20 years. Prior to joining the fitness industry, Schexnyder was a producer for the network’s chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta. While pregnant with her first child, she was asked to produce a series of stories on newborns, one of which focused on how moms could lose weight after giving birth. Every expert told Schexnyder that the best way for mothers to shed the extra pounds was to exercise with their child. She looked all over Atlanta for mom and baby fitness programs but came up empty. After profiling various exercise programs in other cities, Schexnyder considered starting a business in Atlanta.

Following the birth of her daughter Sofia, Schexnyder experienced postpartum depression and started going to a new parents’ support group. There, she met many new mothers and their babies. They became a close-knit group in no time, taking walks together daily. Schexnyder eventually overcame her depression through exercise, the support of other moms, and a quick doctor’s prescription.

Convinced that there was a real need for prenatal and postnatal exercise programs in her community, Schexnyder started Oh Baby! Fitness. Classes, which include yoga, Pilates, water aerobics, and stroller workouts, are all taught by instructors who are specially certified in prenatal and postnatal fitness. Oh Baby! Fitness helps new and expectant mothers get out of the house, find support, get fit, bond with their baby, and make new friends. The company’s classes are now offered in yoga studios, fitness centers, and area hospitals throughout Georgia. Partner establishments include Northside Hospital in Alpharetta, Candler Park Yoga in Atlanta, DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur, and Stability Pilates and Physical Therapy in Sandy Springs.
