Mightybytes became a certified B Corporation in 2011 and one of Illinois’ first legal Benefit Corporations in early 2013. As a B Corp, Mightybytes observes a triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit. Its employee engagement efforts include monthly peer-to-peer education, participation in various bike commuting and green commuting challenges, paid volunteer time, and holiday giving as voted by employees. In addition, several employees serve on the boards of national and local non-profit organizations.

As leaders in the field of sustainable web design, Mightybytes launched Ecograder, a free app that helps companies assess the sustainability and increase the energy efficiency of their websites. Mightybytes also strives to raise awareness about Internet sustainability issues and educate designers and developers about ways to decrease a website’s carbon footprint. Mightybytes operates out of a green office with partially recycled drywall, LED lighting, an energy efficient HVAC system, Energy Star equipment, low VOC paints, a NEST system, countertops made from recycled and reclaimed materials, and two living green walls. Moreover, the Mightybytes team recycles, practices vermicomposting, and has participated in charity cycling events to raise money for environmental causes.

Mightybytes encourages its clients and partners to help make the world a better place by offering a discount to certified B Corporations, legal Benefit Corporations, and non-profit organizations.
