Undrest is a Los Angeles-based fashion company that believes it can make a difference in the fashion world by supporting locally, consciously made clothing; vintage and recycled apparel; and human rights. Since the company’s inception in 2007, its products have always been made entirely in Los Angeles, California, creating and supporting local jobs under fair wage labor conditions. No Undrest product has ever been manufactured overseas, by children, or in sweatshops. Everything is produced in-house in its 8,000-square-foot headquarters.

To ensure the quality of each garment, sewers are tested prior to being hired and then trained intensely using the finest sewing techniques. Nearly all of Undrest’s materials are sourced locally and the company strives to use every bit of fabric to minimize landfill waste.

Aside from its own designs, Undrest offers a special collective of local brands called “California Love.” Undrest founder Maria Paz Navales personally selects and curates the products included in California Love, ensuring everything is made in California under fair wage labor conditions. California Love brands, designers, and artisans come from all over the state, including Downtown LA, Carlsbad, Half Moon Bay, Malibu, Topanga Canyon, and Laurel Canyon.

The majority of products carried by Undrest are local brands, while the rest are recycled vintage and international brands produced in compliance with humane labor conditions.

“[I believe] that no human being should ever suffer or struggle to create something so lighthearted as fashion,” says Navales.

In addition to its own brick-and-mortar retail shops and online store, Undrest can be found at retail outlets such as Anthropologie, Isetan, United Arrows, Urban Outfitters, Victoria’s Secret, The Ritz Carlton hotels, and more than 150 specialty boutiques around the world.

Undrest has been featured in Marie Claire, Ele, W, People, Harper’s Bazaar, Sports Illustrated, and the Pirelli Calendar. Celebrity clients include Reese Witherspoon, Vanessa Paradis, Shakira, Milla Jovovich, Diane Kruger, and Rooney Mara, among others.
