Karadi Tales is a children’s book publisher based in Chennai, India. Featuring Karadi, the storytelling bear as its mascot, the publishing house offers meaningful entertainment alternatives for kids and families and brings fun into the early stages of learning and development.
Karadi Tales was founded in 1996 by a group of educators, writers, and musicians who wanted to create a space for Indian culture in children’s minds. The company primarily publishes audiobook sets that comprise an illustrated storybook and an audio CD containing a narrated version of the story set to music.
Recently, Karadi Tales launched a series of picture books from around the world, including works by notable children’s author Eric Carle. Each picture book contains beautiful illustrations with minimal text, allowing kids to read and visualize at the same time. Karadi Tales has also created a special series of handmade tactile picture books with text in both English and Braille for abled, differently abled, and visually impaired children. The publishing house recently introduced DVDs, digital applications, and video products as well.
Since its first title in the 1990s, Karadi Tales has consistently produced bestselling publications in India. Several titles have sold over 100,000 copies and each piece of work has been reprinted within a year of its release. Karadi Tales currently has 60 titles in its catalog, with many more in the works.
Karadi Tales products have received worldwide recognition from organizations such as the National Parenting Publications Awards, Dr. Toy, the International Board on Books for Young People, and Internationale Jugendbibliothek. Karadi Tales audiobooks are used in hundreds of schools across India, the UAE, the US, and Canada.
Karadi Tales is also involved in innovative pedagogy for language learning. Through its Karadi Path brand, the company delivers fun, easy, and effective language education to children in rural and semi-urban India.
