Students and young professionals are always on the go and are always on the lookout for a pick-me-up throughout the day, or sometimes even at night. Their regular go-to products for caffeine fixes are usually coffee and energy drinks. The long lines at coffee shops make it quite inconvenient for someone who’s always in a rush, and the other chemical ingredients found in energy drinks can be worrisome. Luckily, a group of friends came up with a quick and delicious way of getting caffeinated without the harmful chemicals or the long lines. Their solution? Infuse caffeine in something handy and easy to eat – chocolates.

Matt Schnarr, Dan Tzotzis, and Adam Deremo got together and founded Awake Chocolate. Their products are pretty straightforward. They sell their signature caffeinated chocolate bars in two variants – Milk Chocolate and Milk Chocolate and Caramel. Each chocolate bar is infused with as much caffeine as one would get from a cup of coffee. Unlike coffee, though, people can take it anywhere without worrying about spilling the contents of their cups. Those who are regulating their caffeine intake need not worry, because Awake Chocolates are also available in smaller, bite-size packages. This makes getting one’s daily caffeine buzz even more convenient.

They launched the product in Canada in 2012 and the response has been overwhelming. It has become very popular in college campuses. Today, Awake Chocolate is available in over 14,000 locations in Canada and the United States. The caffeinated chocolate bars are also sold online through Amazon, Amazon.ca, Shop.ca, and Tapiture.

These phenomenal snacks have become so popular that it was given the Fan’s Choice Award in an Entrepreneur Magazine article that lists its choices for The 25 Most Innovative Consumer and Retail Brands. Awake’s “spokesowl” named Nevil has also gained a huge following online.
