In the United States, over 10 billion donuts are consumed every year – truly, a staggering amount that attests to the popularity of the round pastry with flavors ranging from savory to sweet. One of the foremost names in the donut industry is Yum-Yum Donuts, a chain of doughnut shops in various cities across California with its headquarters being in the City of Industry. The manufacturing and distribution facilities are located here, too.
In 1971, Phillip C. Holland founded the company with his first shop located at Avenue 26 and Figueroa Street in Los Angeles’ Cypress Park district; the original shop is still open today.
In 2014, Yum-Yum Donuts purchased Winchell’s Donuts, an older and larger chain of donut shops. Together, the two donut-based companies are the largest in the West Coast, an accomplishment that the company is proud of.
Today, Yum-Yum Donuts has expanded its menu to include sandwiches, fresh muffins, bagels, croissants, and bakery items as well as speciality drinks, coffee, and cappuccino, among others.
